Eric Stevens Bio

Eric Stevens serves as outside general counsel to public employers throughout California, guiding them through the range of issues they encounter on a day-to-day basis. He provides advice in internal investigations and disciplinary procedures, administrative hearings, arbitration and mediation, governmental complaints, appeals, and grand jury investigations.

Eric provides counsel on all aspects of labor and employment law. He assists clients with labor-management relations, grievance resolution, collective bargaining, and reductions in force.

As part of his role as an outside advisor to public entities, he gives advice on the Brown Act and Public Records Act, drafts contracts, advises on public bidding requirements, real property and service transactions, inter-agency agreements and disputes, tort claims, free speech issues, and conflicts of interest. Eric also assists school districts, county offices of education, SELPAs, and charter schools with their unique needs, including credentialing, pupil discipline, facility construction, Proposition 39 issues, and both petition preparation by charter schools and petition review by charter authorizers.

Prior to joining the firm, Eric was an attorney in the Employment Law Department of Paul Hastings LLP. There he successfully defended California’s largest employers in disputes involving wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, family and medical leave, and various wage/hour issues.
