Anisa Pillai Bio

Anisa Pillai is an associate attorney with Edwards, Stevens & Tucker, where she advises school districts, county offices of education, special education local plan areas, and charter schools in a wide variety of education law matters, including compliance with the IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other special education statutes and regulations. Anisa also counsels clients in the areas of employment law and charter school oversight and has conducted internal investigations on behalf of school districts.

Anisa provides representation to clients at IEP meetings, resolution sessions, and mediations, and has given presentations on sexual harassment prevention, recent legislation, and legal issues for supervisors.

Anisa brings a number of unique experiences to her current law practice. Prior to joining Edwards, Stevens & Tucker Anisa practiced family law where she handled complex custody and property disputes, and spent several years as a consultant for the California State Assembly and Senate, where she advised legislators on issues related to public safety, health, education, and human services.

In her spare time, Anisa spends her time hiking, baking, and reading.
